At the age of three, I recall pure joy of making circular scribbles on piles of papers. After observing six years of my obsession for drawing, my mother finally taught me the art of portraiture. From that day forward,my family, friends and art teacher encouraged me to use the gift of art.
I listened to everyone's advise and attended college where I received a degree in art education. I married my husband at this time in 1976, followed by the birth of our six beautiful daughters. I tried to balance my life: being a wife, mother and assistant to my husband's farming operation. In 1986, I added another responsibility--an art teaching career.
Creating art was on the back burner, except in the classroom. I only had inspirations periodically every ten years. But in 2001 the inspirations came closer together, and with fervor. As our daughters were becoming more independent, I started taking spiritual journeys , this led me to prayer, and this led me to create art for God.
My spiritual artwork was ignited with a prayer in Spring 2001…
"How can I serve God better with the gifts He gave me?"
He did not waste time answering this prayer! The inspirations came quickly! I felt as though my creations were a prayer, and the Holy Spirit had control of my hand! I was drawing portraits of Christ-like people, and Christ, himself!
I said "yes' to create an image of the crucified Christ in ten minutes at a teen retreat. The Holy Spirit guided my hand as I drew to the spiritual music. When it was finished, the teens approached me for an embrace, sobbing on my shoulder. After this event I declared, "I want to create art for you, God the rest of my life!"
People began to approach me in creating images for fundraisers, retreats, and church events. I was in awe of how God sent me out into the world to use His Gifts. God taught me a lesson repeatedly, that the more I gave, the more He would bless me! Whenever I shared my gift, I receive so much more in return! There is no greater reward than to touch another heart with God's Love! Being directed by His Will, it has been an exciting journey of faith! God is using me as an instrument to spread His Love through the gifts He gave me. I give all honor and glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
CALLED AND GIFTED TO SERVE
"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord."
